Two things happened this summer: The Lutherans (ELCA) chose a new bishop who happens to share one of our names (hint: NOT SCOTT), and we both read Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, by Sheryl Sandberg. These things are related, and we wanted to talk about women’s leadership, what we’ve both learned about gender tendencies, and how it can make the world a better place for all of us.
(We also got a puppy, but that’s beside the the point).

always enjoy listening to you two. have a wonderful day!
Thanks, Neighbor!
First ELCA synodical bishop was April Ulring Larson in the La Crosse Area Synod (WI). She was elected in 1992. 🙂
Thanks! I KNEW someone would chime in with the info. I remember well when she was elected because I was a junior in high school (and so were you!)…pretty big news.
According to this, http://www.therichest.com/celebnetworth/celebrity-business/women/sheryl-sandberg-net-worth/, Sandberg is 5′ 8.11”…pretty tall for a woman, and even more so if she wears heels. A friend and I were commenting on how so many of the male bishops of our church (and several females) are very tall. Usually the taller presidential candidate wins, too, I hear.
Elizabeth Eaton is at most 5’4″ and was clearly the shortest of the four bishops on the third ballot. She is the exception in many ways.
